My Favorite Holiday

This will be my first 4th of July EVER that I will not not be in St Louis/Webster Groves.

My life long streak of 4th July traditions has come to an end.

A huge part of me believes that STL/Webster is the only place in the world that does 4th of July right. Its magical and I wish everyone in the world could experience the wonderful charm of the 4th in my hometown.

Since I will be making a return back to St Louis for Labor Day, I thought two trips in one summer was a bit much. So I am heading to Portland tonight to visit my friend Shamus. I figure I can be in denial while in another city that is not LA.

I'm VERY excited about my trip, BUT, The Webster parade, Gore Ave BBQ's, the Leverenz loft party, and the Arch fireworks will be missed. Very missed.

I promise, I will find a Budweiser somewhere to toast everyone celebrating back at home.

Happy 4th of July to all!

My roommate Alyssa moved out to LA a few months ago for her job as a movie reviewer. The blog she writes for is called movie fanactic (click the link to check it out)

The website just launched with a new design as of yesterday so i thought I would show it off a bit for her

Art in The Streets

Thanks to June Gloom and Ashley leaving LA in the next few weeks, we have been spending a lot more time at the LA museums during the weekend.

This past Sunday Claire, Ashley and I went to the The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA downtown. Art in the Streets is the first major U.S. museum survey of graffiti and street art.

Over all interesting presentation of art and as always in LA...great people watching.

Happy Dads Day!

In honor of Father's day I'll have a green beer, try to watch the cardinals game on my computer and look up average movie screen numbers at the end of the day.
Love You Dad!

Thats Not a Dog...

I was at a dinner party last night and one of the neighbors brought over his "pet" towards the end of the night.

one.
I have seen this "pet" before outside my favorite brunch/coffee spot in LA, Kings, and thought it was a rare dog.
two.
its not a dog, its a wolf. a real 146lb wolf. the owner has had him for over 5 years and even sleeps with him every night.

Check out the size of this thing...

Twilight in real life.

Ahh blog world, kind of forgot about you again. whoops.

so i somehow blew off posting in may

but now its june and "summer" is here

here are the recent top 10 happenings...

1. went to south carolina and colorado
time with family, lauren got married, i was reunited with sweet tea, visited old friends, saw the mountains and the other side of the country, took my first red eye flight and was surprised by how great the trip was. perfect vacation high.

2. TOMS is no longer just shoes
Tuesday launched the start of a whole new product = sunglasses. i'll continue to say it, but i'm so proud/inspired by this company. check out the site. now.

3. june gloom has arrived in la.
summer is always on delay here. when the rest of the country gets heat and humidity, we get overcast days. its perfect sleeping in weather. you also get to use the phrase "it will burn off" daily.

4. bling continues to live on.
i had a little scare last week when my car (bling) decided to over heat. i thought that it may be coming to the end. BUT thanks to a new car shop on santa monica, the car is good as new. fingers crossed it can stay this way for a while. car bills just suck and i can think of so many other fun things to do with my money.

5. i've been listening to these songs daily...

6. i miss modern family and i still am in denial that mad men is not starting this summer.

7. adele decided to get laryngitis = my tickets to the greek theater to see her will have to wait. big bummer.

8. one of my closes friends in LA is moving to Boston next month. NEVER did i think i would out live her in LA.

9. i got a tattoo
the thought had always been there to get one and then the opportunity presented itself to make it happen when i was in boulder. call it a right place, right time moment.
i love it when i can even surprise myself in the things i do.

10. went to LACMA for the first time
who knows why it took me so long to get there, but thanks to the Tim Burton exhibit opening i made my first visit last weekend. it could be the first museum i have ever been to that i would consider a social experience and will now be on my top la spot list.

till next time, happy weekend
